Psilalonia-Guest rooms

Charming guest rooms on the island of Leros, Greece. Contact : jacqueslaure@psilalonia.com

It has a name, in Greek ΨΗΛΑΛΏΝΙΑ, in english PSILALONIA, which means "high threshing floors". Two circular floors built of massive stones, on which wheat was threshed, neighbor the house.

Built in the early 20th century, the latter was practically a ruin when we bought it.

We restored and expanded the former farmhouse with great respect to whatever could be salvaged using the original building...

Breakfast and Cocktail Dinner Plate

The Breakfast

This is a great beginning of each day. Our breakfasts are diverse from fried eggs, homemade cheese from the neighbor and excellent yoghurt to homemade jams, cakes or fruit salads

prepared by Laure... All this is, of course, accompanied by fresh orange juice and Italian coffee. The discussions are animated. We usually talk about what we had for dinner the night before, the discovery of the little cove, the visit to the small museum but also, and this happens very often, we...

The Environment

Nearby...

Our environment

No further than 300 meters away, the sea and the small chapel of Agios Georgios. Here you can read a book in peace, after taking a dip in the crystal clear sea.

A little further, the small fishing port of Drymonas and its tavern.

On the other side, beyond the hill, one can follow goat tracks leading between thickets of sage and thyme, along the sea, and discover some isolated, picturesque bays.

A little further... the island

Our environment

Leros is a small island of the Dodecanese located in the Aegean Sea to the south east of Athens, a few miles off the Turkish coast.

Fishing, agriculture, a bit of tourism and the state hospital are its main resources. Like all islands in the region, it was occupied by the Italians between 1912 and 1947. Signs of the occupation can be traced in the peculiar "art nouveau" architecture of the city of Lakki.

Certainly Leros is not the most picturesque choice compared to the stereotypes contained...

Further away... the nearby islands

Our environment

It is possible to visit them taking one-day excursions either by using the ferries or other boats serving these islands on a daily basis or by sailing if our friend, a skipper, is available.
